Newmarket Hydro's peaksaver™ program

Joining the peaksaver™ program means you can help reduce the demand for electricity in your community. And you’ll feel great knowing you’re doing something good for the environment.

Participating is easy and includes the installation of a free programmable thermostat (valued at $400 including the cost of installation) that allows us to send a signal to temporarily increase the temperature setting of your air conditioner. As an added incentive, you will receive a $25.00 rebate after your new thermostat is installed.

NOTE: Please come into the Newmarket Hydro Office at 590 Steven Court, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm to pick up your thermostat. Thermostats must be picked up prior to scheduling an appointment with a contractor.

Terms and Conditions: • I choose to participate in Newmarket Hydro’s Demand Response program being offered pursuant to, and in accordance with, the Ontario Power Authority’s (OPA) Demand Response program • I own, or I am a joint owner of the above named residence. If I am a tenant, I have supplied written approval from the owner of the residence to install the load control device • The above named residence has central air-conditioning • Newmarket Hydro will provide the necessary load control device for use in the residence. I will be responsible for any willful damages to the load control device installed at the residence and failures beyond the warranty period • I will arrange to have the Newmarket Hydro supplied load control device installed within four weeks of the above date by one of the HVAC contractors from a list provided by Newmarket Hydro • I will provide reasonable access for installing, inspecting, testing and/or removing the load control device. I will take reasonable steps to ensure the load control device is not moved, removed, nor damaged, and continues to operate. • If the Newmarket Hydro supplied load control device is not installed at the above named residence within six weeks, I acknowledge that Newmarket Hydro will apply a charge to my account in the amount of $220.00 plus GST, and I will promptly pay the full amount when billed. • I understand that the OPA, or a Person designated by them, solely may remotely control my central air conditioning unit during critical peak periods for electricity demand in Ontario. • I acknowledge to my best understanding that the above named residence’s air conditioner and furnace are in good working condition. • I agree that Newmarket Hydro may send my personal information, regarding this program, to the OPA • I understand that Newmarket Hydro will not be responsible for the repair, maintenance, or replacement of my air conditioner, furnace, electrical equipment or appliances. • The maximum liability that Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd., the Ontario Power Authority and their respective agents, employees, officers, directors and shareholders (and any other person for whom Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. or the Ontario Power Authority is at law responsible) (collectively, the “Indemnitees”) is limited to the amount that you were paid for your participation in the Program. None of the Indemnitees will be liable for any indirect damages of any kind nor for any inconvenience that is suffered by you, any member of your family or any occupant or guest. You agree to indemnify the Indemnitees if you or any member of your family, occupant or guest seeks damages against any of them for any reason that is connected with this contract or the load control device.
